Miami-Dade County’s Department of Transportation and Public Works celebrates partnership with artist David Anasagasti

The Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) celebrated Miami artist and public transit advocate David Anasagasti, recognizing his contributions to the community and his artwork at Dadeland North Metrorail Station.
Born in Hialeah, Anasagasti – also known as “Ahol Sniffs Glue” – is best known for his large-scale urban murals featuring his signature drowsy eyes. He completed the Dadeland North mural in just two days, donating his time and talent to create the work for the community. His work has been exhibited internationally while remaining deeply rooted in Miami and the urban environment that inspires him.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava presented Anasagasti with a proclamation designating April 15, 2026, as “David Anasagasti Day” in Miami-Dade County, coinciding with World Art Day and recognizing his contributions to Miami’s arts and cultural community.
As part of the celebration, DTPW launched two limited-edition EASY Tickets featuring Anasagasti’s artwork, which can be found at EASY Ticket vending machines throughout the Metrorail system. DTPW Director and CEO Stacy L. Miller, P.E., presented Anasagasti with his limited-edition EASY Tickets as well as a one-year pass for Miami-Dade Transit.
“David’s personal connection to public transportation makes this especially meaningful,” said Miller. “His artwork has made Dadeland North Station more vibrant and welcoming for the thousands of people who pass through it every day. We’re proud to celebrate his creativity and support of Miami-Dade Transit.”
“Miami has shaped who I am and the art I create,” said Anasagasti. “As someone who uses public transit, knowing that a piece of my work is now part of people’s everyday journeys through the city means a lot to me.”
The recognition highlights DTPW’s commitment to incorporating art and culture into the transit experience and creating spaces that reflect the communities it serves.
