100 Voices: Yesteryear Stories of Coral Gables at the Merrick House

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

A gathering is scheduled for April 6th, 4:30 p.m., at the Merrick House in Coral Gables, with refreshments to follow a presentation by June Morris. During the City of Coral Gables Centennial Year,  the topic, “Fortunes Gained and Lost: Miami’s Visionaries and Their Fatal Passion to Create’, is most fitting.

June Thomson Morris

While writing her play Greetings from Paradise, Miami native June Thomson Morris became captivated by the boom-and-bust stories of Henry Flagler, Carl Fisher and George Merrick. Ever the investigator, this Emmy-award winning news journalist had to learn more.

June will give us the scoop on these visionaries and their rollercoaster rides from rags to riches and back. She will also relate the story of her grandparents that inspired her play, which premiers at Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre on the city’s centennial date: April 29 and runs through May 3, 2025.

Tickets are still the best deal in town: $5 at gablesfoundation.org/events/
