The City of Coral Gables has a new location for its Adult Activity Center (50-plus).
Classes and activities previously offered at the War Memorial Youth Center are available now on the ground floor of 2 Andalusia Avenue, across from The Palace Coral Gables. The 9,700-square-foot facility is the new home for all programs designed specifically for adults 50 years of age and older.
Classes are available at the new location, with parking available in the garage above the center. A grand opening ceremony is scheduled for September.
Register now for fitness classes such as boot camp, chair exercises, pilates, yoga and zumba. Participants also can sign up for French, Italian or Spanish lessons or take drawing and painting classes. If you are ready to socialize, consider the Book Clubs (English and Spanish), current events discussions, or enjoy a game of canasta or bridge.
Social services such as Alzheimer’s Caretakers Support Group, Hearing Loss, and the SHINE program are available. Upcoming annual events include a health fair, art show, holiday party, trips, and much more. Parking is available in the garage above the center. Tickets will be validated at the Adult Activity Center after an activity. Complimentary valet parking also is provided by The Palace, 1 Andalusia Ave.
The City of Coral Gables is planning a grand opening ceremony scheduled for Friday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. Additional details are forthcoming.
All of the Adult Activity Center programs are run by volunteers. To become a volunteer, call 305-460-5622 or send email to lellis@coralgables.com.
