The Coral Gables Garden Club’s 2nd annual AS I SEE IT photography competition was wildly successful this year, with photography submissions from all over the state of Florida. The competition aims to increase the appreciation of our natural environment highlighting outstanding nature and wildlife photography.

The contest featured eight different categories focusing on Plants, Flowers, Landscapes, Pollinators, Black and White photography, Humans interacting with Nature, Altered Nature images and images taken in the City of Coral Gables.

“We are grateful to the Allen Morris Company, who was our Grand Sponsor this year” said Susan Rodriguez, President of the Coral Gables Garden Club.  Allen has a love for photography and has a special connection to the garden club as his mother was a member and Mother-in-Law Dorothy Thomson has been a member for over 40 years.

The Marlene Kerdyk Beautification Fund was created to benefit the Coral Gables Garden Club and sponsored the Grand prize of $1000 for the overall best image, thanks to the Kerdyk family.

The competition ended with a reception, given by Allen Morris, October 18th, 2022, for the photographers, Coral Gables Garden Club members and their guests with a special preview of the top 25 images at 121 Alhambra Place, the Allen Morris building. Those images will be displayed in the common areas throughout the building.

The exhibition will be staged for one month, the top 25 images will be included in the exhibition and in a curated museum quality catalog.  The top overall image will be acquired by the museum, with the photographers approval at the fair market rate.
