A new musical that promises to be a hit will be coming our way in March, 2020.
Renowned dual pianists, Kirk Whipple and Marilyn Morales, entertained members and guests of the GFWC Coral Gables Woman’s Club on Apr. 17 with a taste of the songs from this new show.
While the evening began with a beautiful piece written by Kirk, it was followed by the highlight, a preview of Marilyn’s songs from Always Remember. In Always Remember, Marilyn, a Cuban American, writes a compelling tale with humor, romance, and multiple story lines giving it a depth like that of few other musicals.
The audience was enthralled with the performances giving this preview a standing ovation. Several audience members actually participated in one of the musical’s catchy songs donning their straw hats and singing along. Club president Arely Ruiz thanked Kirk and Marilyn for sharing their amazing talent.
On hand to address the crowd that evening was the executive director of Fire Haus Projects, Lilia Fontana, the visual arts director for the musical. Tenor Carleton Cornish also helped with this showcase featuring seven excerpts from the show.
Everyone applauded Whipple and Morales, a husband-and-wife team who bring life and fun to any occasion.
This talented couple complement beautifully touring the world together performing original works and more. In fact, Kirk is the arranger for this musical while Marilyn is the composer and playwright.
