More than 1,000 runners, walkers, families and fitness enthusiasts participated in the Amerant Bank 5K on Sunday, Jan. 22, in Coral Gables, which raised more than $100,000 to benefit United Way Miami and its mission of building a stronger Miami for all.
The 2023 event represented Amerant Bank’s second year as title sponsor of United Way Miami’s annual 5K, now in its 12th year.
The five-kilometer run/walk began and ended outside of the City of Coral Gables’ historic City Hall and took participants through the beautiful tree-lined streets of Coral Gables. Following the race, guests enjoyed a post-race celebration near City Hall, which included an Activity Zone, food, refreshments, and music.
Proceeds generated from the race will support over 100 United Way Miami-funded programs working to ensure everyone has access to quality education and the opportunity to live healthy and financially secure lives — the building blocks of a thriving community.
“It was an absolute honor to run in this event alongside hundreds other United Way Miami supporters,” said Symeria Hudson, United Way Miami president and CEO, and avid runner who participated in the 5K. “This event speaks directly to our mission by bringing the community together to build a stronger Miami, and we are extremely grateful to Amerant Bank for their partnership as our title sponsor for the second year in a row.
“It is because of generous corporations like Amerant Bank and all of our sponsors that we can continue helping and empowering the most vulnerable in our community,” Hudson added.
“It was great getting together at the Amerant Bank 5K with our Coral Gables community and our partners, United Way Miami,” said Jerry Plush, chair and CEO at Amerant Bank. “At Amerant, we believe it’s important to connect with our community in meaningful ways that support healthy habits and look forward to continuing to help build a stronger Miami, together.”
Since 1924, United Way has been an innovative force in the community, successfully responding to emerging needs and transforming the lives of residents in need. The organization focuses on education, financial stability, and health — the building blocks for a good life, by investing in quality programs, advocating for better policies, and engaging people in the community.
Sponsors of the 2023 Amerant Bank 5K included: Title Sponsor Amerant Bank; Platinum Medal Sponsor MasTec; Gold Medal Sponsor Miami Kids Magazine; Silver Medal Sponsors Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Raymond James, RSM, and Williamson Automotive Group; Bronze Medal Sponsors Akerman, Bilzin Sumberg, Bradesco – BAC Florida Bank, Integra, JP Morgan Chase, Paramount, Portal Real Estate, and Titan America.
