The ninth-annual Artopia, presented by Miracle Mile and Downtown Coral Gables, will bring together Miami’s best creative talent on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at the Coral Gables Museum. Art aficionados will enjoy an eclectic and unique artistic experience provided by artists, musicians, fashion designers, culinary masters, and cocktail creators. Confirmed entertainment includes Angels Entertainment, performances by Native American Powwow Dancers, an interactive digital graffiti wall, multi media make up artist Desiree Vazquez, music by DJ Surge, Interactive Tiles courtesy of 8Bit Lexicon, artist Wen Ju and many more to be announced.
In addition, MasterMind Awards will be presented to local artists, writers, craftspeople, or other performers whose work stands out for its enterprise, creativity, and genius. Each winning artist will receive a $750 grant. Winners of the 2016 MasterMind Awards include Jason Boogie, Magnus Sodamin and Julisy Y Karla. Past winners have included Bleeding Palm, Jesse Perez, Rosie Herrera, Jillian Mayer, the End/Spring Break, Drugged Conscience Records, Christy Gast, Jorge Rubiera, Jen Stark, Susan Lee-Chun, Otto Von Schirach, Julien Yuri Rodriguez, Kevin Arrow, Bistoury Theatre, TM Sisters, and Randy Bowman. Finalists for the 2017 MasterMinds Awards will be announced in early February and will display their wares at Artopia.
The multi-sensory event will take place from 6pm to 10pm for VIP ticket-holders, and 7pm to 10 pm for general admission. Artopia annually draws thousands of young professionals, local businesses, and gallery-goers for an evening of art, gourmet food, and tasty libations, including exclusive beer courtesy of Beck’s. The VIP Experience includes entrance into the event one hour earlier, access to an exclusive lounge featuring an art/music component from DJ Scratch Academy, live performance art by Graffiti artist Kailani Sky, access to the Fewell Gallery exhibit, premium restaurant samplings not available in general admission, a sponsored bar, as well as access to the Artopia event.
