Author/travel entrepreneur launches Tropic Moon Press

Charles J. Kropke

Coral Gables author and travel entrepreneur Charles J. Kropke recently announced the launch of Tropic Moon Press, a new publishing company focusing on books that exhibit a genuine sense of place or a unique story line.

“With the success of our first book, South Beach: Stories of a Renaissance, Tropic Moon Press is building a unique catalog of beautiful, powerful and exciting works,” said Kropke, who oversees a family of companies in creative financing, sustainable tourism and development and advancing environmental change.

“We are committed to honoring the printed word through high-quality original works that bring places and people to life,” he added.

In South Beach: Stories of a Renaissance, a lavishly illustrated landmark book, Kropke and co-author Eleanor Goldstein chronicle the pioneers, builders and civic leaders who turned Miami Beach into one of the travel world’s most remarkable success stories. In its first year of publication, the locally written, photographed and illustrated souvenir edition ($49.95) has won rave reviews from booksellers, readers and civic organizations.

Following in the footsteps of South Beach: Stories of a Renaissance, Tropic Moon Press, with the writing team of Kropke and Goldstein, will be publishing companion books on the Florida Everglades and the Florida Keys. Other future projects include books of an artistic nature with an emphasis on original photography, fictional works, and other publications that bring some of the world’s most remarkable locations to life.

“Tropic Moon Press was born from the creative minds of an expeditionary tour company of Florida and the Caribbean Basin,” said Kropke, who is managing partner for Dragonfly Expeditions, Florida’s largest corporate tour company. “As a result, our publishing company combines the art of storytelling with the fascination of history, ecology and culture. More importantly, there is an element of adventure in every one of our intriguing book projects.”

A featured presenter on Florida’s speakers circuit, Kropke is a long-time leader in Everglades Restoration, a driving force in ecological restoration of the gardens of the Vizcaya Estate in Miami and frequently donates time, resources, and his expertise to advance fundraising efforts for The Nature Conservancy of Florida.
