WDNA FM will present acclaimed jazz-fusion power group Beast Mode Trio performing live in the station’s intimate Jazz Gallery on Friday, Nov. 14, 8 p,m. The studio is located at 2921 Coral Way. Information and tickets are available at WDNA.org.
Comprised of Grammy-winning musicians Tal Cohen (keyboards), Armando Gola (bass), and Jonathan Joseph (drums), the trio combines an electrifying fusion of jazz, funk, soul, and improvisational mastery. Their individual and collective talents are showcased on their debut album, Something Like a Picture, released this summer on the InterCat Music label.
Each musician brings touring and recording cred to the stage: Tal Cohen’s performances include Joe Lovano, Terence Blanchard and Greg Osby; Armando Gola’s include Arturo Sandoval, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Eldar Djangirov, and Jonathan “Hollywood” Joseph’s include Jeff Beck, Joe Zawinul, and Pat Metheny. Together their decades of experience combine to create exhilarating live performances.
Tickets for the live in-studio performance are limited and range in price from $35 (WDNA members) to $45 (non-members). Students are invited to reserve a free ticket, bring their instruments, and join a post-concert open jam session.
The Jazz Encounters series just celebrated its 15th anniversary and is curated by well-known musician and educator Nicole Yarling. In addition to great live music, each ticket includes appetizers served by The Fish House and a donation bar offering a variety of beverages.
This concert is sponsored by Miami-Dade County Division of Cultural Affairs and Musicians Discount Center.
