Beer aficionados and supporters of Coral Gables Community Foundation gathered on July 27 for a Belgian Beer Dinner at Angelique Euro Café on Miracle Mile.

Angelique’s Carlos and Yolanda Rossi partnered with Belgian brew masters from Stella Artois, Hoegaarden and Leffe to host the event with a portion on the night’s proceeds directed to the Coral Gables Community Foundation. Guests were provided with a four-course, beerinfused menu pairing each course with a different beverage.

The crowd learned from the brew masters the reasons for the pairings, the ninestep ritual on the perfect pour, information on the history and brewing and left with such gifts as a Belgian beer glass, beer and a food-pairing booklet.

Among the many enjoying the dinner and informative introductions for each beer was Philip Reis of Gold Coast Beverage as well as Sean Knowles, Aury Aristy, Lucy Tapanes, Martha Cardenas, Jeff Griese, Scott Benesch, Taylor Treese, and Laura and Rick Bouza to mention a few.

Second Saturday of each month is Family Day on Aragon in Coral Gables and you can bet there always is something happening that will lure you there as friends, family and neighbors for a fun day at the Coral Gables Museum.

Aug. 11 featured the Artisan Food Day at the museum. The event attracted a crowd of people who shopped for everything from jams and chocolates to crafts while also enjoying demonstrations. In addition, the museum even had a children’s area inside where the youngsters were entertained with arts and crafts activities.

The Coral Gables Museum truly has become a focal point for cultural activities while also providing a venue for events such the Family Day gathering, bringing the community together and providing an incredible resource that Chris Rupp and the museum board are putting to good use.

In upcoming news, High Heels and Hand Shakes, a women’s networking group that supports numerous charities, partnered with the GFWC Coral Gables Woman’s Club for an affair at Crave in the Village of Merrick Park on Aug. 15. Look for more on that story next issue.

Crave also will be hosting a membership social for the Rotary Club of Coral Gables on Friday, Aug. 24. These are just a few of the many ways Crave gives back to the community, something that is part of its mission. When you next dine at Crave, be sure to ask about the Crave Cares menu. Every month a percentage of the revenue generated from that menu goes to a different local non-profit. Nonprofits wanting more information on the unique program may contact Group Sales and Marketing manager Christina Ward at 305-444-4595 or via email at cward@craveamerica.com

Until next time, keep making each day count.
