Palace Group communities seek innovative ways to engage their residents and encourage socialization. At the company’s Palace at Weston community, Memory Care Social Director Justin Valdes formed the first-ever baseball team, inviting Billy the Marlin and Miami Marlin Mermaids to their official debut!

“The Palace at Weston Rockets” held their “home opener” at Weston Regional Park, recreating the excitement of a baseball game. Families and friends greeted the players, who arrived for the game by community shuttle buses sporting baseball shirts, and the Cypress Bay High School Marching Band was on hand playing the American classic, “Take Me Out of the Ball Game.” Billy the Marlin and the cheerleaders added to the fun.

Stadium refreshments were served and provided by The Palace’s culinary team. The families were ecstatic seeing their loved ones participate in an awesome event that will forever live in the hearts of those who came out to the ball game. While not the big leagues, the Rockets certainly made community history – a little league with a big heart!

The Palace at Weston offers independent living, assisted living and memory care. To learn more about The Palace communities, located in Homestead, Coral Gables, Kendall and Weston, please visit www.ThePalace.org.
