Bird electric scooters are now also available to rent in the City of Coral Gables.
This second option for e-scooters is available for 60 days as part of a pilot program that began this August with the introduction of Spin scooters in Coral Gables. The city commission agreed to extend the testing phase to analyze it further and determine the right number of scooters that are sustainable in Coral Gables. After the pilot programs with both vendors, the commission will make a final decision on electric scooters in Coral Gables.
To ride a Bird scooter, users must download the app on a smartphone and register as a new rider. Cost is $1 to unlock a new ride, plus $0.15 per minute. Bird requires all riders be over the age of 18, and encourages everyone to wear a helmet while riding. They will send any rider who requests one a free helmet.
