Bulla Gastrobar and the soon-to-be-opened Pisco Y Nazca are raising awareness and funds for Global Water Brigades, an international, non-profit organization constructing clean water systems in Nicaragua, Honduras and Ghana. The restaurants will be showing their support by serving bites at the 5th Annual Water Party MIA being held at The Four Seasons in Brickell on Friday, November 13 from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m.
Diseases from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Children are especially vulnerable, as their bodies aren’t strong enough to fight diarrhea, dysentery and other illnesses. 90% of the 30,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water and unhygienic living conditions are children under five years old. Many of these diseases are preventable. The WHO reports that over 3.6% of the global disease burden can be prevented simply by improving water supply, sanitation, and hygiene. Today almost 700 million people lack access to clean safe drinking water around the globe.
The goal of the event is to raise $12,500 to benefit the community of El Hatillo, Nicaragua which is home to 67 families in need of clean water supply. To build on the efforts by the Miami Water Party, both Bulla and Pisco y Nazca will be donating $1 to the Global Water Brigades for every share their Facebook post promoting the Water Party event. Tickets to the event, are $35 in advance online at http://www.empowered.org/Water-Party-MIA-2015 and $40 at the door.
The minimum donation of $35 in advance will entitle each guests to endless cocktails generously sponsored by Botran Rum, Finalandia Vodka, Herradura Tequila, Mahou Beer and wine from the wine boutique store Afficionados Brickell; plus delectable bites from Bulla Gastrobar & Pisco y Nasca as well as two food stations courtesy of the culinary team at the Four Seasons. The night will include music, a silent auction and more.
