McDonald’s Restaurants of South Florida are adding to their breakfast offerings by bringing back three bagel breakfast sandwiches to the morning menu starting on May 8 in select restaurants, and at every restaurant in the area by May 16.
In a 2022 market survey, McDonald’s Restaurants of Central Florida discovered that their customers wanted to bring back their famous bagel sandwiches to the breakfast menu. Breakfast bagel sandwiches made their reappearance in March 2023 in restaurants between Sarasota and Palm Coast, and soon after the South Florida customers came calling.
“It all began with an IG [Instagram] post about McDonald’s bringing bagels back to their restaurants in Central Florida. I was aware that the bagels were rumored to be back in Orlando, but my suspicions were confirmed when a friend in the 407 sent me a pic!” exclaimed Sef Gonzalez, AKA The Burger Beast. “This could not stand, so I posted about South Florida being left out, and next thing I know…this took on a life of its own,” Gonzalez. “Through the power of nothing, but a communal love for the breakfast bagels, we did it together.”
Through Gonzalez’s Burger Club, the firebrand Burger Beast gained support and took his idea to friend, and fellow entrepreneur Peter Menendez, local McDonald’s Owner/Operator.
“We are all about satisfying our customers and bringing back products when they make sense for our suppliers, crews, and in our restaurants. Breakfast bagels sandwiches are delicious and hearty – and we’re a bagel loving people here in Miami,” said Menendez. “Sef brought the idea to us, we did the case study, and after a huge success in Central Florida, here we are. Enjoy!”
All three classic bagel sandwiches are now available in restaurants: the Steak, Egg & Cheese Bagel (featuring a toasted, buttered bagel with a steak patty, folded egg, two slices of melted American cheese and grilled onions),the Bacon, Egg & Cheese Bagel: (toasted, buttered bagel with thick-cut applewood-smoked bacon, a folded egg, and two slices of melted American cheese), or the Sausage, Egg & Cheese bagel (toasted bagel with pork sausage patty, a folded egg and two slices of melted American cheese).
