Keralty Hospital Miami, formerly known as Westchester General Hospital, celebrated National Emergency Room Nurses Week. This week is dedicated to those ER nurses who devote themselves to the wellbeing of their patients. “This important event gave us an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the work done by our team during the past year,” said Dr. JD Suarez, Keralty Hospital Miami’s Chief Medical Officer. “Under the direction of Eli de la Rosa, ER Director, and Mercedes Perez, Chief Nursing Officer, our Emergency Department has seen an extraordinary display of quality care and compassion towards our patients and families. It has been a true testament to what healthcare service is all about,” said Dr. Suarez.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, these frontline nurses have dedicated a countless number of hours to being at their patient’s side. COVID-19 services that are provided in the hospital include treatments, vaccines, and monoclonal antibody infusions. The staff is exceptionally proud of the advances done with the infusions. Using this treatment, they have seen a decrease of symptom severity and, in most cases, been able to prevent hospitalization.

“ER nurses play a pivotal role in today’s changing healthcare world. Their work is imperative today more than ever,” expressed Mercedes Perez, Keralty Hospital Miami’s Chief Nursing Officer. “With an unprecedented amount of ER visits and limited human capital, recognition is a must. We are extremely proud of the team we have.”

Keralty Hospital Miami’s goal is to provide compassionate and quality care while focusing on maintaining a cost-effective, financially sound organization as to continue meeting the needs of the community.
