Long-time City Clerk Walter Foeman has announced his retirement effective Dec. 31 of this year.
Deputy City Clerk Billy Urquia, who has been the second-in-command at the City Clerk’s Office since 2008 and has been a City of Coral Gables employee since 2003, will assume the leadership role at the City Clerk’s Office. The city commission unanimously made the decision to appoint Urquia as city clerk at the last commission meeting. The city clerk is one of three constitutional officers appointed by the city commission and serves as the official secretary to the city commission, and as records custodian and supervisor of elections for the city.
