Coral Gables’ iconic trolleys are a welcomed sight for residents, commuters and visitors to the northern end of the city. Now the Coral Gables Trolley expanded its service into North Gables.
Trolleys now run along Ponce de Leon Boulevard past SW Eighth Street to Flagler Street, adding approximately one and onequarter miles to the route as well as seven new stops.
“My vision for the trolley system always included expanding to the North Gables area. By extending the route, residents in this area now enjoy greater mobility and added convenience,” said Vice Mayor Bill Kerdyk Jr.
At Flagler Street, the final stop before looping south, passengers can connect to several of Miami-Dade County’s major Metrobus routes. The route extension provides Coral Gables residents with complete access and connectivity to major transit lines in the north and south ends of the trolley route. Street signs identifying the new stops have been installed.
Coral Gables’ fare-free vintage-styled trolleys are a convenient and reliable transportation system designed to relieve local traffic congestion, alleviate parking requirements and connect downtown Coral Gables to surrounding areas through the county’s transit system.
The trolleys run every 10 to 15 minutes Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. until 8 p.m., except the first Friday of the month when trolleys run until 10 p.m. For more information, contact the Coral Gables Trolley at 305-460-5070.
