Today, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins proudly unveiled plans for the county’s second annual Hometown Heroes Parade and Festival, a special event dedicated to honoring our local law enforcement, firefighters, first responders, and healthcare professionals, all of whom play a crucial role in public safety.

“We’re so excited to announce the second annual Hometown Heroes Parade, which honors the sacrifices and dedication of our first responders,” stated Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “This family-friendly event is possible thanks to the vision of County Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins, and the unwavering support of Chairman Oliver Gilbert and Vice Chairman Anthony Rodriguez. We invite all residents to come together for this celebration and pay tribute to the brave men and women of our county.”

Chairman Oliver Gilbert, III and Commissioner Cohen Higgins were the driving forces behind the legislation that brought The Hometown Heroes Parade and Festival to life. Chairman Gilbert, III expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming event, saying, “The second annual Hometown Heroes Parade and Festival will once again show our gratitude to our dedicated first responders and essential workers.”

Commissioner Cohen Higgins, a strong advocate for this celebration, emphasized the importance of changing the narrative of who are our true heroes. She remarked, “Many children idolize athletes or musicians, but we should show them that our police officers, firefighters, and healthcare professionals are our true heroes. This celebration honors and praises our brave men and women who put their lives on the line daily to keep us safe.”
