Have you ever held an Emmy Award? Have you even seen one of the entertainment industry’s most prestigious awards?
Well, concertgoers attending the South Florida Youth Symphony’s unique “Inside/Outside” Concert on Feb. 26, 2 p.m., at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, 10901 Old Cutler Rd., will have that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Attendees to the concert, sponsored by Fairchild and the Kiwanis Club of Homestead-South Dade, can enjoy the performance either indoors in Fairchild’s Garden House or sit outdoors in the surrounding lush gardens nearby. Masks are optional for the indoor seating.
One of the country’s leading youth music organizations, the Emmy Award-winning SFYS will be performing their “Italy Tour Preview” program at the Fairchild concert, less than a month before their Mar. 17-23 Grand Performance Tour of Italy, with performances in Florence, Lucca and Rome.
Following the Fairchild concert, Marjorie Hahn, SFYS executive and music director, will bring out the Emmy for people to hold and take photographs with.
“Very few people every get to see an actual Emmy close up, let alone hold one,” Hahn said.
“This is a very rare opportunity.”
In addition to Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden and the Kiwanis Club of Homestead-South Dade, the SFYS program is sponsored with the support by the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, Miami-Dade County Mayor and County Commissioners, The Children’s Trust, Miami-Dade County Office of Management and Budget, State of Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, The Kirk Foundation, Publix Charities, and Nancy Friday Foundation.
The concert is free with a paid admission to Fairchild. Adult admission is $24.95 and senior admission is $17.95. Students (with ID) are $15.95 and Children (6-17) are $11.95.
Admission for children under 6, Fairchild members and active military and veterans is free.
