An afternoon with Congressman John Lewis discussing the Civil Rights Movement: Looking Back, Marching Forward, sponsored by The Children’s Trust, took place on Saturday, Apr. 1, at New Birth Baptist Church, 2300 NW 135 St.

The event included a discussion with co-author Andrew Aydin and artist Nate Powell about their award-winning graphic novel trilogy March.

As part of the Congressman’s initiative to educate and inspire young people about the history of the civil rights movement and apply the principles of nonviolence to their own lives, some 1,200 Miami-Dade Public School students attended the event.
