Coral Gables bolsters police presence in public schools

Coral Gables bolsters police presence in public schoolsThe safety of each public school located within the City of Coral Gables is being bolstered with the onsite presence of a police officer for the entire school year. School-based law enforcement officers from either the Coral Gables Police Department (CGPD) or Miami-Dade Schools Police Department (MDSPD) are being deployed on campus to provide a visible deterrent to crime in schools, as part of a Memorandum of Understanding between the city and the school district. The police officers will be onsite weekdays when schools are in session. CGPD officers will monitor the following schools: Coral Gables Senior High School, West Lab, Coral Gables Preparatory Academy (both campuses) and Carver Elementary, while MDSPD officers will be present at Carver Middle and Ponce Middle as well as Coral Gables Senior High School.
