The Coral Gables Garden Club is proud to celebrate our Centennial by funding pollinator gardens across the city’s urban landscape and local schools during the 2024-2025 club season. These gardens testify to the power of partnerships, strengthening our community’s commitment to conservation and environmental stewardship.

Pollinators—such as butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds—are vital to our ecosystems. They support biodiversity, increase crop yields, and ensure the reproduction of countless plant species, including many that provide food and shelter for wildlife. By creating pollinator-friendly habitats, we help restore declining pollinator populations and enhance the natural beauty of our city.
As part of our ongoing efforts, we have established pollinator patches at the Coral Gables Youth Center in the McFarlane neighborhood and a pollinator garden at the Coral Gables Library, which is being renovated. In honor of our Centennial, the library will also welcome “Planting for Pollinators”, a stunning eco-sculpture by renowned artist Xavier Cortada, gifted to the city by the Coral Gables Garden Club.

To extend our impact, we have awarded grants to schools in Coral Gables and neighboring communities to create their pollinator gardens. Schools that have already accepted our grants include:
St. Philips Episcopal School, Sunset Elementary, Crystal Academy, Henry S. West Lab, Ponce Middle School, Coral Gables High School, Southside Elementary and Riviera Day School.
