Attention Coral Gables residents: If you are looking to dispose of your cardboard boxes, you are required to flatten them and place them inside or next to your recycling container for pickup.
This means that residents no longer can place cardboard boxes on any trash piles as part of the regular household trash. A city ordinance was approved recently that considers cardboard as a recyclable material, and that placing it in a trash pile constitutes a code violation. An educational period is in effect before code enforcement fines are issued.
