The city of Coral Gables Florida sits southwest of downtown Miami and is the home of the University of Miami. Coral Gables, or “The City Beautiful,” is full of fun and entertaining destinations whether you are
a longtime resident or are only visiting for a short while. Coral Gables events range from art exhibits to serious sports action from the University’s basketball team. Combined with the many dining, shopping and entertainment venues in and around the area, there is always something fun to do.
For instance, the International Pink Snails Exhibit is spread throughout the city as part of the Regeneration Art Project that has traveled throughout the world. You can catch these colorful
characters for a couple of months in many locations such as Alhambra Circle Median, Cartagena Plaza, Coral Gables Museum Plaza, Merrick Park, near the Village of Merrick Park and the War Memorial Youth Center among many other places.
Those of you looking for a little drama will find many upcoming stage plays including the New Theatre’s one-person production of High Dive or the Area Stage Company’s one time showing of Confessions of a Jewish Shiksa. If you are in the mood for music, you can partake of one of many concerts happening throughout the month including the South Beach Chamber Ensemble’s performance at the Coral Gables
Museum or an evening of romantic arias with soprano Sandra Lopez and tenor Stuart Neill at Gusman Concert Hall right in time for Valentine’s Day.
Of course, there are various ongoing activities throughout the year for people in every age group to enjoy, such as Morning Coffee Club for seniors. This hour-long program takes place at 10:30 every Monday morning at the Coral Gables Adult Activity Center and is free. If you are looking for a little spice, the Biltmore hotel offers tango lessons on Tuesdays. For the history buffs out there take a historic tour of the Biltmore hotel on Sundays. It is pretty much a guarantee that Coral Gable events will keep
you hopping all year long!
