Cristo Rey Miami High School is pleased to announce that school President, Anamarie Gari Moreiras, has been honored by the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce as the recipient of the 2023 Businesswomen of the Year, Outstanding Educator award.
On Friday, March 24, 2023, in celebration of Women’s History Month, the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce presented the 2023 Businesswomen of the Year Awards, sponsored for the 20th consecutive year by Equitable Advisors. Awards were given to outstanding businesswomen of retail, entrepreneurship, hospitality, nonprofits, public service, healthcare, education, real estate and philanthropy. Applicants provided proof of special recognition on specific projects and significant accomplishments, along with their record of community involvement, support and encouragement of employees and coworkers, and mentorship of women.
As the President of Cristo Rey Miami High School, Anamarie oversees a dedicated team of faculty and staff serving a founding freshman class of 70 students. Cristo Rey Miami launched in August 2022 in North Miami and will scale to an enrollment of more than 400 students across four grade levels by 2025. A highly respected educational leader, Anamarie brings extensive experience with a deep and loyal connection to the South Florida community. She began her career with Miami-Dade County Public Schools as a volunteer and held various roles with increasing capacity and responsibilities during her thirty-one year tenure, including serving as Principal of South Miami K-8 Center and retiring as a Region Director for both the Central and North Regions.
Mrs. Moreiras shared, “I am honored to accept this recognition on behalf of the students, faculty, and staff at Cristo Rey Miami High School as we continue living our Credo by founder Fr. John Foley, S.J” – ‘May we have faith in a dream so ambitious as to border on the delusional with a healthy disregard for conventional thinking. May our hope be so outrageously bold that we are afraid people will laugh at us if they knew what we hoped for!’”
