David Gil is a prime example of the American Dream becoming reality.
David was born and raised in Miami and played baseball at Christopher Columbus High School, followed by the University of Miami, where he was an All-American pitcher on the team that won the national championship in 1999. In 2023, he was honored by being inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame.
After college, David was drafted in the third round by the Cincinnati Reds and played professional baseball for nine years in the Minor Leagues. “Just having the opportunity to play was an amazing experience, something I will always be grateful for,” he says.
In 2009, wanting to put his business administration degree to work after baseball, David set out on a new career path and joined his father’s property & casualty insurance agency, Gil & Associates Insurance Consultants. Founded in 2004, Gil & Associates is a family-owned and operated local agency dedicated to tailored service in the personal and commercial insurance arena.
Over the last 15 years, David has expanded the business to include a large portfolio of insurance lines leading to a 240 percent increase in sales. His perseverance, competitive spirit and creative solutions continue propelling the business to new heights. 
“I have enjoyed learning from my father. He coached me when I was playing and coaches me now. I feel incredibly lucky to have been given the opportunity to grow the company,” David says. “Although we’re headquartered in Miami, we also have an office in Orlando and expect to open additional locations. We are licensed to write policies in 15 states. Insurance is a tough market, but helping people out by saving them money on insurance or being able to support them during their time of need or crisis is very gratifying to me.”
David and his wife Maria Alejandra are parents to sons David Jr., Wyatt, and daughter Francesca.
