Brandon Knight, Detroit Pistons’ point guard and a former Miami Children’s Hospital (MCH) patient, returned to MCH on Aug. 30, visiting the same unit at MCH where he was once a neurosurgery patient at age 15.
An MCH pediatric neurosurgeon operated on Knight and within three-months of his surgery he was back on the basketball courts. That year, he led the Pine Crest Panthers to the state championship title and in 2008 was named the Broward County Player of the Year. Brandon has earned honors including back-to-back Gatorade National Basketball High School Player of the Year and a member of the NBA All- Rookie First Team last season with Detroit.
