The Doctors Hospital fifth annual Fishing Tournament, scheduled Friday- Sunday, Aug. 28- 30, at Chesapeake Beach Resort in Islamorada, benefits the hospital’s Youth Athletic Outreach Program.
The program provides free pre-participation athletic screenings at Miami-Dade County public schools, EKG screenings for youth athletes at five Baptist Health Outpatient facilities, medical staff coverage at high school football games, educational seminars for coaches and athletic trainers, and medical coverage at numerous community youth sport events.
Saturday is the official fishing day, with lines in at 7 a.m. and lines out at 3:30 p.m. Anglers will bring their catch to the docks for the official weigh-in and dock party. Winners will be announced at the awards beach party and dinner.
The entry fee is $500 per boat for four anglers and $125 for each additional angler, with maximum of six anglers per boat. Social tickets are available for $100 per person.
