Effective leadership with grace

Commissioner Rhonda Anderson

The City of Coral Gables is fortunate to have Commissioner Rhonda Anderson for a multitude of reasons. The most notable and noticeable in my experiences interacting with the accomplished commissioner, is her remarkable and unique ability to balance effectiveness, decisiveness, and grace.

Not only is it rare to find city leaders or administrators who possess those attributes, but it is remarkably refreshing to see these qualities exude while simultaneously taking swift, and direct action.

If you have ever witnessed Commissioner Anderson’s quiet confidence, I’m sure you will agree it is reassuring to watch her work seemingly effortlessly, as she takes any issue, of any size, head on without blinking an eye. On top of all this, she manages to draw a “strictly business” matter of discussion into calmer waters with certain ease, which morphs into a conversation that is both welcoming and reassuring, that the issue will be resolved.

I could not help but notice how Commissioner Anderson lowers her title to listen attentively which immediately resonates she clearly understands the urgency, and the entirety of the matter before her.

Then suddenly, the cape is attached and with a double portion of grace, she leaps over tall buildings with a single bound, parts the sea, and leads you on a path of resolution.

In this day and age of 5G everything, it is a privilege to be in the presence of an engaging, sincerely present leader as she immediately goes to work finding answers and solutions rather than scheduling for later consideration.

Slow to speak because she’s listening, swift to act because she cares. Calm because she’s more than capable. She’s a “bad-ass” in the very best ways, because she’s a cleverly disguised super-hero who represents little guys just as effectively as she champions causes for all her constituents.

Commissioner Rhonda Anderson is the model anyone in any position of authority can look at and see how to lead effectively, with grace.

Let’s clone her before she gets away!
