Everybody’s health tells a story. What’s yours?

At the moment, health care is often one-size-fits-all. But imagine a future where your health care is tailored to you. All of Us wants to make that future possible. How? By creating a resource that allows researchers to conduct thousands of studies on health and disease.

The All of Us Research Program, from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), is inviting one million people across the U.S. to help build one of the most diverse health databases in history. We’re all human, but we’re not all the same. Often our differences—like age, ethnicity, lifestyle habits, or where we live—can reveal important insights about our health. All of Us wants to support researchers in efforts to understand how all of this can impact health and disease. People who join will share information about their health, habits, and what it’s like where they live.

Studying DNA is a key part of this effort. One of the side benefits of participating is that you can get your DNA results over time.

We expect this will include information about:

• Your genetic ancestry (where your family comes from)

• Your genetic traits, such as why you might love or hate cilantro

• Whether you may have an increased risk of developing a serious health condition, such as cancer or heart disease

• How your body might react to certain medicines

• Other health-related information

The University of Miami is a proud partner in the All of Us Research Program and leads the SouthEast Enrollment Center (SEEC). Located in one of the most ethnically diverse communities in the country, we want to ensure our rich diversity is represented in future medical research.
