Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden presents ‘Bugging Out’ exhibition with after-dark programming

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden has announced evening programming to complement its summer exhibition “Bugging Out: A Bugs World but BIGGER!”

The after-dark events will run select nights through September, offering visitors new ways to experience the garden’s insect-themed showcase and fun summer nights. The evening events transform the garden into an illuminated wonderland featuring large-scale robotic insect sculptures, guided twilight safari tours, and outdoor cinema experiences.

Programming includes family-friendly activities with interactive dance parties and G-rated movie screenings, plus adults-only events featuring insect-themed cocktails and cult classic horror films.

The Wings of the Tropics Butterfly Exhibit remains open during evening hours, offering visitors a rare opportunity to observe nocturnal butterfly behavior in a climate-controlled tropical paradise housing hundreds of species, including iridescent Blue Morpho butterflies.

When:
• Family events: Aug. 9 and 30, 6:30-10 p.m.
• Adult events: Aug. 26 and Sept. 27, 6:30-10 p.m.

Family Move Night and Twilight Bug Safari (All ages welcome):
Aug. 9 and 30, 6:30-10 p.m.

• Big Bug Cinema outdoor movie screenings: A Bug’s Life (G), Aug. 9, and James and the Giant Peach (PG), Aug. 30.
• Twilight Bug Safari tours with guided exploration of nocturnal insect behavior.
• Wings of the Tropics Butterfly Exhibit during evening hours.
• Bubble Bash Dance Dash interactive experience.
Pricing: Adult, $30 for one or $50 for two; child, $15; Family Four Pack, $85; Fairchild members save $5.

The Bug-N-Grub Night Crawl (21 and older): Aug. 26 and Sept. 27, 6:30-10 p.m.

• Bug-N-Grub Bar Crawl with insect-themed cocktails (“Praying Mantis Martini,” “Butterfly Mojito”);
• Curated picnic baskets and artisanal snacks, and
• Moonlit garden pathway exploration.
