Families are invited to a free, fun-filled afternoon at the Coral Gables Museum, 285 Aragon Ave., on Saturday, July 12, 2-4 p.m.
Special activities will include a 2 p.m. interactive storytelling of the children’s book Sleepover at the World Cup in Brazil, and a 3 p.m. live theater performance by City Theater.
There also will be soccer-inspired games such as foosball, FIFA 2014 Xbox game, and a mini soccer field featured in this summer;s blockbuster exhibit “12 Stadiums, 12 Cities: Brazil 2014, World Soccer Destination.” And everyone is invited to vote for their favorite photos in the Capture Coral Gables exhibit to help determine prizewinners.
Interactive storybook
Sleepover at the World Cup in Brazil, a 27- page fully illustrated and narrated interactive storybook about soccer (football) and Brazil, is perfect for ages 4-8. Designed as a picture book, the story contains fun samba music, a map game, flag identification game and a soccer game where kids can score goals. So grab your passports this summer, pack your pajamas and join Noah, Clive and Fernão on a soccer adventure in Brazil.
Shorts 4 Kids
City Theatre will pack up its shorts and hit the road, heading for the Coral Gables Museum to bring engaging and fun educational programming to Family Day. The featured program, known as Shorts 4 Kids, is a unique educational outreach program which introduces elementary and middle school aged students to the art of theater through age-appropriate, socially relevant, entertaining and exciting short plays that appeal to young audiences in bite-size portions. The City Theatre Acting Company is comprised of talented artists from across South Florida. The plays act as a springboard for further discussion of relevant issues that challenge today’s youth.
