February is such a great month for getting outdoors and enjoying the cooler weather here in South Florida. This month there is no shortage of great events and, for athletes, you will want to join The Huntington’s Disease Society of America’s (HDSA) South Florida Chapter’s 30th Annual Huntington’s Disease Triathlon. Save Sunday, Feb. 27 at 7:00 a.m. for this great charity event being held at Larry & Penny Thompson Park in Miami.

The event will include Sprint or Olympic Triathlon distance, Aqua Bike – Swimming and biking only, or Duathlon – Run, Bike, Run. For those who are not familiar with Huntington’s disease, it  is a fatal genetic disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain that is described as having ALS, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s disease all at once.

Currently, there are approximately 41,000 symptomatic Americans and more than 200,000 at-risk of inheriting the disease.

For more information, visit online at th-annual-hd-triathlon.

Presidents’ Day weekend is coming up and that long weekend always brings us the Coconut Grove Art Festival with its impressive assortment of artists whose work is on display for sale along South Bayshore Drive while enjoying delicious food and drinks.
