Fire breaks out at scrap metal facility near in Northwest Miami Dade near MIA

A fire has broken out in Northwest Miami-Dade at scrap metal recycling center, Ferrous Processing & Trading, located at 3700 NW N River Drive.

This is what we know:

  • Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials confirmed that the fire involved a pile of scrap metal.
  • Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene at around 11:30 am with over 45 units, including a hazmat team and fire boats while their ladder units extinguish the fire from overhead.
  • Miami International Airport said there are no impacts to air traffic.
  • Miami-Dade Transit said the fire caused service delays on the Metrorail Orange Line between the Earlington Heights and Airport stations.
  • At this time, no injuries have been reported.
  • First responders urged those with respiratory conditions to avoid the area.
  • The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
