Gables Adult Activity Center gets a Quinceañera for seniors
Attending the Quinceañera + Party are (l-r) Jennifer Zuriarrain, Maria Diaz, Ana Lam, Blanca Aldana (sitting) and Martha Carulo.

A creative Quinceañera + Party on Aug. 9, kicked off National Senior Citizens Week filling the Adult Activity Center at Coral Gables Youth Center with an afternoon of fun, food, dancing, and more.

Hosted by Coral Gables Crime Watch, Coral Gables Police and Fire and the Community Recreation Department, the community also stepped up with in-kind donations like tiaras for all the ladies, photo ops, music, food, linens, decorations and more.

Ana Lam, executive director of Coral Gables Crime Watch, reported that the ladies even shared the dance floor with notables as Coral Gables Police Chief Hudak, Sgt. Alex Escobar, and Officer Natalie Flores to add to the festive and very special day for the ladies, many of whom may have never experienced a quinceañera. This inaugural event was such a hit, there already is talk of another one next year.
