Gables Hospital appoints new director of quality

Coral Gables Hospital has named Ruth Diaz as director of quality.

In this role, she will be responsible for implementing, enhancing and sustaining quality improvement programs, core measure metrics, quality awards and accreditations.

With more than 20 years of healthcare experience, Diaz has worked at Coral Gables Hospital since 2002. She most recently served as the director of telemetry where she was responsible for the coordination of patient care for the 68-bed unit, in charge of 140 employees.

Among her many duties, Diaz oversaw clinical operations, employee engagement, patient satisfaction and performance improvement.

“Ruth will thrive in her new position due to her vast experience in healthcare quality management and strong leadership skills,” said Patrick Downes, CEO of Coral Gables Hospital. “We are confident that with her support, we will achieve even greater performance levels in the areas of quality, safety and patient satisfaction.”

Diaz received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix and her Associate of Science in Nursing from the University of Puerto Rico. She currently is working on her Master of Science in Nursing and is on track to graduate next year.
