Donald Stewart of Coral Gables was reelected to a two-year term on the national executive board of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) during its 32nd Biennial National Convention, Aug. 26-30, in Reno-Sparks, NV.
Delegates of the 275,000-member organization determined NARFE’s direction for the next two years and set goals for the association’s legislative program, including preserving the earned benefits of federal employees and retirees. Stewart represents NARFE Region III, which includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Puerto Rico, South Carolina and the Virgin Islands.
Stewart has extensive NARFE experience, including serving as second vice president, first vice president and president of the Florida Federation. He also has held numerous positions at the NARFE district and chapter levels.
An Army veteran, Stewart began his federal career at the Library of Congress. He later moved to the Department of State where he held a number of positions with increasing responsibility, including as alternate permanent representative of the U.S. Mission, Organization of American States. Stewart is a graduate of Washington and Lee University, and later earned a master’s degree from George Washington University.
NARFE is the only membership organization solely dedicated to protecting and preserving the benefits of all federal workers and retirees. Founded in 1921, NARFE’s legacy spans more than 90 years, advocating on behalf of the federal family.
