The Rotary Club of Coral Gables with a $2,000 matching grant from RI District 6990 sponsored nine children from the Overtown Youth Center. The $4,000 raised enabled the children to attend a two-week summer camp at Shake-A-Leg in Coconut Grove.
Coral Gables Rotarian and treasurer Bill Quesenberry has been a volunteer for Shake-A-Leg for years and has been the point person for acquiring the grants to make this experience possible for these children year after year.
Coral Gables Rotarians joining Bill Q on a visit to Shake-A-Leg’s summer camp recently were past president Sally Baumgartner, George Reeves and Gloria Burns. The four were met by some very appreciative youngsters who were sponsored by their club as they prepared to get on the water for the day.
This is a camp where children experience everything from sailing, paddle-boarding, and other aquatic sports to arts and science activities. Shake-A-Leg is an amazing community resource that provides water activities for people of all abilities for both adults and children.
