GableStage Honors Mayor Daniella Levine Cava During Their 25th Anniversary Celebration at the Gala

On Saturday, April 20, GableStage commemorated 25 years of artistic excellence at the GableStage Gala in the Garden located at the Sereia restaurant in Coconut Grove. Over 130 guests, including Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Commissioner Eileen Higgins, joined in the evening festivities and in support of GableStage’s education programs.

“This year, we celebrated a significant milestone – a quarter of a century of stellar productions. Our company continues to flourish through a commitment to provide South Florida with performances that open minds and hearts to new experiences, generate empathy, and provide catharsis,” said GableStage Producing Artistic Director, Bari Newport. “We are thrilled to recognize Mayor Daniella Levine Cava with the Applause Award for making giant steps toward funding the arts and establishing Miami-Dade County as a top destination for performing arts in the United States and for her continued support of GableStage”

The night was made possible by the support of presenting sponsor Grove Bank and Trust. Broadway and TV star Allen H. Green served as the Master of Ceremonies for the evening and graced attendees with two performances.

The evening set the stage for GableStage’s future and included the announcement of the upcoming 2024/2025 season that will present productions including King James, Both Sides Now: The Music and Lives of Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen, Appropriate, Summer, 1976, and Fat Ham.

Additional supporters of Gala in the Garden include Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits, Ariete Hospitality Group, Sereia, Hawthorne’s London Dry Gin, R Catering, and Chill N’ Nitrogen Ice Cream. The evening was generously underwritten by Marc and Robyn Abrams, Ivan and Lourdes Garces, Richard and Judie Jacobs, Gene Sulzberger, Roz and Charles Stuzin, and Rick and Myrna Toren.

In 25 years, GableStage has had a $10M economic impact on Miami-Dade County, employed over 2,000 artists, and provided 650,000 patrons and 175,000 Miami-Dade students with the opportunity to exercise their imaginations.

GableStage partners with high schools and universities across Miami-Dade County to offer education programs in the arts sector, including Shakespeare in the Schools, Ignite, diary of a production, mainstage student matinees, student rush and culture shock, and other learning opportunities.

GableStage’s current 2023/24 Season continues through mid-June with Laughs In Spanish by Alexis Scheer (May 18 – June 23, 2024).
