The Gables Good Government Committee (GGG) is a Coral Gables community organization dedicated to the pillars of good city government: transparency, accountability, consistency, efficiency, fairness, compliance and public participation.
GGG promotes good government by providing community forums and meetings with elected officials and city hall leadership. It advocates or opposes proposed legislation and policies and encourage public discourse and alternative views. GGG does not endorse, support or advocate for any candidate.
Throughout the year, GGG organizes meetings and programs for its members and the public to hear from city decision-makers on important issues impacting the community.
During GGG programs, discussions and questions are presented in a civil tone and respectful language. Difficult questions may be asked, and honest answers are expected.
The Coral Gables election is set for Tuesday, Apr. 8.
Upcoming election events, featuring Coral Gables Commission candidates, will be held 5 to 7:30 p.m. The members-only event will take place in Fellowship Hall at the Coral Gables Congregational Church, 3010 De Soto Blvd. The public event will be held at Coral Gables Museum, 285 Aragon Ave.
The following is the remaining election events schedule:
Mar. 3 – Group I candidates: Michael Abbott, Mayor Vince Lago and Commissioner Kirk Menendez. Members-only event.
Mar. 12 – Candidates Forum for all commission candidates – Groups I, II and III. This event is open to the public.
GGG was founded in 2009 when former Mayor Don Slesnick and a group of concerned residents saw a need for an organization to create opportunities for the public to engage and hold the city’s elected officials accountable through public participation. GGG believes that the fundamentals of ethical behavior, transparency and fairness are not only inspirational ideals, but the bedrock of good government.
GGG is a membership-based organization. Members’ dues are its only income, which covers event costs, including venue rental, program supplies and website fees. It does not charge members to attend meetings.
To attend a members-only program as a one-time guest to see GGG in action, contact it by email for a free invitation to attend at gablesgoodgov@gmail.com. More information is available at www.gablesgoodgovernment.org.
