Adding to the experiential transformation taking place in Downtown Coral Gables, Giralda Place — the area’s recently completed, mixed-use development — has announced the signing of a lease agreement with Dr Smood. The health-conscious café is slated to open in Q1 2019.
Located at 271 Giralda Ave., Dr Smood will encompass 1,250 square feet in one of the ground-floor retail spaces within Giralda Place’s 33-unit luxury condo building. The tower, which boasts more than 13,000 square feet of retail space, recently opened and began welcoming its first residents. The property also is situated adjacent to Giralda Plaza and blocks from Miracle Mile, two of the area’s most popular thoroughfares, which received a multi-million-dollar investment by the City of Coral Gables to increase walkability.

Dr Smood will serve its signature, unprocessed, certified USDA organic and kosher, pre-made and made-to-order food and beverage options at the new location. Diners can enjoy the health benefits of the café’s highly nutritious superfoods found in their juices, pastries, oatmeal, salads and more. Aligned with a wellness-oriented lifestyle, Dr Smood offers a thoughtfully designed, clean and inspiring environment for patrons.
The interiors will follow the brand’s mid-century modern theme, incorporating marble accents, a color palette of gray, black and beige hues, as well as restaurant and lounge-style seating. The Dr Smood location at Giralda Place in Coral Gables will be the sixth in the Sunshine State, and joins outposts in Wynwood, South Miami, Sunset Harbour, Aventura, and Brickell.
