The GFWC Coral Gables Woman’s Club is doubling down on Gringo Bingo this September, continuing its tradition of fun for a cause while raising funds for the club’s free children’s dental clinic and other charitable projects. After a lively Aug. 19 fundraiser that brought in more than $1,100, the club decided to host two bingo nights this month.
On Sept. 9, they return to Birdie Bistro with DJ Alex Guillen on the music and “Gringo” caller Steven Bradley, managing partner of Vivo Sports & Social, handling the numbers.
These events are made possible thanks to loyal sponsors including Lynn Bauer and Dr. Hal Wanless, attorney Jerome Kavulich, Miami’s Community Newspapers, Vivo, and the many supporters who donate prizes and attend month after month.
Bradley will return again on Sept. 17 for a special Gringo Bingo at Bay 13 Brewery & Kitchen, chosen to accommodate a much larger crowd. That fundraiser will benefit the National Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF) and is sponsored by Nero Immigration Law and EPGD Business Law. Tickets are $40 and include one drink plus 13 games with the chance to win great prizes. Reservations are available online at https://forms.gle/jRnaoJYx3E5kmhqw9 or by emailing gloria@cnews.net.
Birdie Bistro continues to shine as a hub for creative fundraisers, having hosted in August not one but two charity events, the second one benefiting Women for Success held on Aug. 23 as a speed dating mixer where, despite the men slightly outnumbering the women, everyone had a great time making new friends while raising money for the nonprofit.
The affair was emceed by Erica Rodriguez from Women for Success and supported by DJ Alex Guillen, who kept the music flowing and even sang for guests. Kudos to Rita Tennyson and her team at Birdie Bistro for providing a warm and welcoming venue for nonprofits like Women for Success, which gives women access to free workshops, mentorship, resources, and small business grants to empower their futures.
As September unfolds with football, festivals, fundraisers, and back-to-school excitement, it’s clear that Coral Gables and South Florida shine brightest when tradition, service, and community come together. That same theme was highlighted on a recent episode of Gloria’s Gab LIVE, where I welcomed Sammy Gonzalez Zeira, founder and CEO of Young Musicians United, and Sheila Womble, executive director of Arts for Learning. Both are part of Arts Access Miami, a program dedicated to expanding opportunities for children and families to experience music and the arts. You can tune in at cnewstv.com to watch the interview and learn more about how these leaders are making an impact through service and the arts.
