The Greater Miami Symphonic Band will be performing its final concert of the 2022-23 season on Tuesday, June 6, 8 p.m., at the University of Miami’s Gusman Hall, 1314 Miller Drive, Coral Gables, FL 33146.
Music director Robert Longfield and guest conductor Barry Bernhardt, director of Bands at FIU, will lead the band in an evening of “Out of this World” music. Much of the music will have celestial themes and will be certain to entertain one and all.
Selections include Soaring with John Williams, featuring music from his film scores Superman and Star Wars. Also on the program are the Transit of Venus march by John Philip Sousa, the ever-popular Blue Moon by Richard Rodgers, The Purple Twilight composed by Longfield as a memorial to the crew of the Challenger space shuttle, and other popular selections.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for students and children (over 5 years old) and can be purchased online at www.GMSB.org or at the Gusman Hall box office on the evening of the concert. Cash, check and major credit cards accepted.
