Back for its 13th year, Halloween on the Mile in Downtown Coral Gables returns to give parents and children a safe trick-or-treating experience the day before Halloween night.

This year’s extravaganza, set for 3-6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, promises to entertain children with storytelling, live performances, kids and canine costume contests, a Halloween-themed photo booth presented by Flagler Development Group and safe trick-or-treating on Miracle Mile.

“Downtown Coral Gables comes alive every year with children and pets dressed to impress in the most creative costumes,” said Mari Gallet, executive director of the Business Improvement District of Coral Gables. “Our goal is to provide a safe and fun experience for Halloween, and since we are hosting the event the day before Halloween night, children can get their hands on candy one day early.”

During this year’s Halloween on the Mile, children can collect candy from participating Miracle Mile merchants, visit a Halloween-themed photo booth at the Coral Gables Museum, listen to spooky stories at Books and Books and take part in the annual costume contest at 5 p.m. at The Actors’ Playhouse.

Canines dressed in Halloween garb also can strut their stuff at a doggie costume contest emceed by NBC 6 reporter Nathalie Pozo taking place at the Coral Gables Museum at 4 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Humane Society of Greater Miami Adopt-A-Pet.

The 13th Annual Halloween on the Mile is presented by Baptist Medical Plaza at Coral Gables. Flagler Development Group is sponsoring the Halloween-themed photo booth. For more information about this year’s Halloween on the Mile, call 305-569-0311.
