What: Women veterans represent the fastest-growing segment of the veteran population, sharing many health and mental health challenges with their male counterparts. However, crucial distinctions exist: a higher incidence of sexual trauma during service, increased susceptibility to suicidal thoughts and a higher percentage of women veterans’ suicides involving firearm injuries. The VA is actively evolving to meet the unique needs of women veterans, learn all about these changes on Healing America’s Heroes: Women Veterans Health Town Hall.
