The City Beautiful will be turned into an international marketplace during the ninth annual Hispanic Cultural Festival on Oct. 20 and 21. The event will take place at 405 Biltmore Way in Coral Gables between the hours of noon and 9 p.m. on Saturday and noon and 8 p.m. on Sunday.
This free to attend event will draw international artists and musicians from 17 countries. Among those scheduled to perform will be some of the most exciting new faces on the block like L-YEN; Henya; Just Blues & More; Fusion Gitana; Coro Infantil, a choir from Ecuador, and more.
“The main idea for this festival is to promote the culture,” said Emilio Sauma, president and founder of the organization planning the event.
He noted the area has a rich cultural blend as many people in South Florida have roots in Mexico, the countries of South and Central America as well as the islands of the Caribbean. These cultures create a blend of traditional foods, music, dance and art which the festival brings together in one location.
Some 15,000 to 20,000 people are expected to attend the event.
