Members of the Coral Gables City Commission gathered recently to unveil a historic marker to highlight the significance of St. Mary First Missionary Baptist Church in the history of the city.
More than 75 members of the congregation attended the ceremony to unveil the Florida Heritage Site marker, which describes the history of the church, founded on Mar. 9, 1924 and later destroyed by the 1926 hurricane. Architect J. Frank Bradley designed the existing two-story church with a tower at the same location of an earlier building.
