Jillian Hornik, sales manager for Coral Gable-based Jae’s Jewelers and a Brickell resident, has been awarded the title of Registered Jeweler from the American Gem Society, an association of professional jewelers in North America.
To earn this milestone designation, Hornik completed required coursework and classroom study, along with written and practical exams in diamond grading.
Jae’s Jewelers recently was accepted as a Retail Firm Member into American Gem Society, only one of two jewelry businesses in Miami meeting the exacting standards required for membership in this prestigious society.
Jae’s Jewelers is a 72-year-old full-service fine jewelry establishment located at 237 Miracle Mile. The business designs, creates, sells, repairs, purchases, and appraises fine jewelry and timepieces.
A genuine family business founded in 1945 by Jill Hornik’ s grandparents, George and Helena Hornik, Jae’s Jewelers moved to Miracle Mile in 1956. George Hornik’s son, Bruce, joined the business in 1972 and is the store’s current owner.
In 2004, Jillian began her career as a sales associate at Jae’s Jewelers, working there seasonally until 2008. From 2008 to 2013, she was a Graduate Gemologist and watch specialist at Traditional Jewelers in Newport Beach, CA. Jillian rejoined Jae’s Jewelers in 2013 as sales manager. She is a graduate of the Gemological Institute of America where she studied diamonds and colored stones.
Jillian, now 32, currently volunteers as an executive board member of the Business Improvement District of Coral Gables and president of Alpha Chi Omega – Miami Alumni Chapter. In addition, she is a member of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, the University of Florida Alumni Association and the University Chapter of BNI.
Since 1934, the American Gem Society has been dedicated to consumer protection within the jewelry industry. In addition to satisfying the American Gem Society’s criteria, including recertification on a yearly basis, members have shown a proven commitment to their community and the highest standards of ethical practice.
