Today, May 5, 2022, Coral Gables Commissioner Jorge Fors, Jr. announced his candidacy for Commissioner of Miami-Dade County District 6. Fors currently serves on the Coral Gables City Commission and commences his campaign with the full support and endorsement of longtime public servant and current County Commissioner of District 6, Rebeca Sosa.
“I am humbled by the support of so many District 6 residents who have asked and encouraged me to run for the Miami-Dade County Commission. I want to thank my beautiful wife, Devyn, and my loving family, whose backing gives me the strength to further pursue my passion for public service. I also want to thank the residents of Coral Gables for their confidence in me over the years and who I look forward to continuing to represent on the County level,” said Fors. “Commissioner Sosa, thank you for your leadership and tireless advocacy on our community’s behalf. I greatly appreciate your total support and faith in my ability to address the issues concerning all the residents of District 6 and Miami-Dade County.”
District 6 encompasses the cities of West Miami, Miami Springs, and Virginia Gardens, areas within the City of Miami, Coral Gables, Hialeah, and many unincorporated communities, including Schenley Park and Coral Villas, Red Bird, Coral Terrace, the Waterways, Glenvar Heights, Little Gables, and Fontainebleau.
Commissioner Rebeca Sosa said, “I am excited to learn of Commissioner Fors’ decision to run, and he has both my support and my vote.”
Fors is an attorney and the managing partner of FORS | ATTORNEYS AT LAW, a law firm he established with his family. Before his election to the City of Coral Gables Commission, he served as the Coral Gables Bar Association president. During his tenure on the City Commission, he has been a protector of the character of the communities he represents and works hard to enhance the quality of life and the safety of residents. As Miami-Dade County Commissioner, Jorge Fors will continue to apply his commonsense and conscientious approach to decision making, bringing his experience as a public servant within the district to the County Commission.
Jorge Fors, Jr. is a longtime resident of the district and, together with his wife, Devyn, resides in Coral Gables, Florida, where they are raising their three daughters, Olivia, Sofia, and Victoria.
