The Junior Orange Bowl hosted its Second Annual Youth Ambassador Fashion Show at the beautiful InterContinental at Doral Miami.
The fashion show was the finale of a two-part process where five girls, representing different age groups, were selected to serve as the 2021-22 Youth Ambassadors: Megan Dominguez (Teens), Khloe Selena Longsworth and Angela Maria Guerra (Pre-Teens), and Jailyne Hidalgo (Junior Teens). Additionally, Arabella Kostecki was selected Miss Congeniality.
The participants were interviewed virtually for the first panel and in person for the second panel. The interviews gave the contestants the opportunity to give examples of their dedication to their community and explain how they would continue their efforts to lead if they were to be selected.
The virtual judges panel included Digna Cabral, councilmember for the City of Doral; Francy Gonzalez-Garcia, senior director of ¡Despierta America!, and Rita Montes, CEO of Bal Mar Trophies and founder of Force Fitness. The in-person judges panel included Michael Aguirre, nurse; Danielle Dubuc Wightman, founder of Girl’s Empowerment Program, and Lynette De Los Santos, Miss Florida 2017.
Youth Ambassador Committee chair Luisaura Alvarez delivered her farewell speech and introduced board vice president Lisa Albizu-Vazquez as the incoming Youth Ambassador Committee chair.
“We want to thank former chair Luisaura Alvarez for her unwavering dedication to the youth of our community. It is truly an honor to step in and lead as the next chair of the Youth Ambassador program,” said Lisa Albizu-Vazquez. “In efforts to have a larger presence and in turn deeper impact within the community, this program is shifting its focus to a more youth-led, community-wide contribution to fostering community service.”
The Youth Ambassador program provides middle and high school age students an opportunity to truly nurture a passion for community service that will be fostered within their peers throughout South Florida.
